I have dedicated my career to canine behaviour and the emotional well-being of dogs and their guardians. As the founder of Pet Intel & Emotional Well-Being, I specialize in behaviour consulting, rehabilitation, and training programs tailored for dogs with complex needs, from reactivity and aggression to service and therapy dog preparation. Over the years, I have worked with thousands of families, trainers, and organizations, always with the goal of fostering stronger, more trusting relationships between people and their dogs.
Alongside my consulting practice, I am also the inventor of the JWalker Dog Harness, a patented, side-attachment training tool designed to help handlers communicate more effectively with their dogs while prioritizing comfort and welfare. The harness is now distributed internationally and is used by trainers, shelters, and guardians across Canada and beyond.
My academic background includes a Diploma in Canine Behaviour Science & Technology, and my ongoing work draws heavily on applied behaviour analysis, ethology, and welfare-based approaches. Beyond client consulting, I am passionate about education: I design and deliver courses, webinars, and curriculum for both dog guardians and aspiring trainers. I also frequently partner with humane societies, community organizations, and schools to advance public understanding of canine welfare and behaviour.
One of the most meaningful aspects of my professional journey has been my volunteer work with CAPDT. In my role as Chair of the Professional Standards & National Curriculum (PSNC) Committee, I have the privilege of leading a national initiative to establish consistent educational standards and a registration pathway for dog trainers in Canada. This work—building a curriculum, developing a national exam, and collaborating with schools and trainers across the country—represents a historic step toward uniting our industry and ensuring the next generation of trainers enters the field with the highest level of competency and professionalism.
What Does Belonging to a Professional Organization Mean to Me?
Being a CAPDT member has given me more than professional connections—it has given me a community of colleagues who share the same values of ethics, science, professionalism, and welfare-first training practices. Membership has helped me expand my network, learn from peers, and collaborate on projects that I could never have undertaken alone. What I value most about being part of CAPDT is the collective drive to raise the bar for our profession while supporting each other’s growth along the way.
For anyone considering membership or volunteer involvement, I can say without hesitation that CAPDT has been one of the most rewarding parts of my journey. It is both humbling and exciting to contribute to shaping the future of dog training in Canada.
