Behind every great professional association is a dedicated group of volunteers who generously share their time and expertise. This month, we’d like to shine a spotlight on one of those exceptional members—Jennifer Berg, CPDT-KA, CDBC.
Many CAPDT members know Jennifer as the editor behind our annual digital publication, FORUM, but her contributions to our profession extend far beyond the pages of a publication. Jennifer is the owner of Oberhund Dog Services & Products in Regina, Saskatchewan, where she has spent more than 20 years helping dogs and their guardians through humane, science-based training and behaviour consulting. She is widely respected for her commitment to positive reinforcement, ethical practice, continuing education, and raising professional standards within the dog training industry. Jennifer is also a frequent writer, presenter, and educator who has been recognized for her volunteer work with CAPDT, including being named CAPDT Member of the Year. While many members have enjoyed reading FORUM over the years, exciting things are happening behind the scenes.
Jennifer is currently hard at work producing the next annual digital magazine for CAPDT. (We’re already thinking beyond FORUM.) This next edition will feature an enhanced, interactive flipbook format that is designed to be more engaging, easier to share, and more visually dynamic than ever before.
Even more exciting, this evolution is the first step toward an even bigger vision.
As CAPDT prepares for the rollout of the Registered Dog Trainer (RDT) initiative, we are also laying the groundwork for what we hope will eventually become a nationally recognized print publication that showcases the professionalism, knowledge, and accomplishments of Canada’s dog training community.
As part of this journey, we’ll be inviting CAPDT members to help shape the future of the publication—including helping us choose its new name. We want this publication to reflect the voice of our membership and the exciting direction our association is heading.

Jennifer is currently welcoming submissions for the upcoming edition. Whether you have a case study, training tips, research summary, member success story, business insight, or another idea that would benefit fellow professionals, we’d love to hear from you.
Our members represent an incredible depth of knowledge and experience, and this publication is an opportunity to share that expertise with trainers across Canada.
